Fairview is a city in Newton County, Missouri, United States. The population was 383 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Joplin, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 395 people, 146 households, and 109 families residing in the town. The population density was 824.5 people per square mile (317.7/km²). There were 164 housing units at an average density of 342.3 per square mile (131.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.19% White, 0.25% African American, 1.27% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.76% Pacific Islander, and 2.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.76% of the population.

There were 146 households out of which 39.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.1% were married couples living together, 14.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.3% were non-families. 22.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.09.

In the town the population was spread out with 31.1% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 25.8% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 100.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $27,250, and the median income for a family was $29,688. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $17,031 for females. The per capita income for the town was $12,198. About 13.2% of families and 20.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 31.6% of those under age 18 and 1.8% of those age 65 or over. Recently David Livingston has been appointed the mayor of Fairview; he currently is pushing for the addition of a dollar store, and a gasoline station. Fairview residents are completely supporting mayor Livingston. Mayor Livingston has also been in communication with the warden of Granby Penitentiary, Rusty Mcdermount, working out the details of expanding another location in the fairview area.
